Beauty: Urban Decay Electric palette review + two looks

I might be the big sister, but my sis Naomi is way more daring than I am when it comes to hair and makeup stuff. She loves her bright colours and throwing all of them together in looks that work surprisingly well. Obviously, since both of us are huge fans of Urban Decay, it was only a matter of time until she would add the UD Electric palette to her collection. As it turns out, I bought it for her birthday about two months ago, and I aksed her to take some pretty pics so I could share this beauty with you guys.

The Electric palette contains a stunning mix of ten neon bright shades and a dual sided brush. Apparently, Slowburn, Savage, Jilted, and Urban are not approved for use in the immediate eye area in the U.S., but the same does not apply for Europe. This is one of those times where I'd advise you to go try this palette out before buying if you have eyes that are sensitive to makeup. I have sensitive eyes, but I've never had an allergic reaction to eye makeup, so I figure that I wouldn't have a problem with the Electric palette, and my sister hasn't had an adverse reaction either, so you're probably safe.

This palette has a good mix of shimmery shades and mattes, and the pigmentation on all of these is out of this world. I mean, see for yourself:

AMAGA, right?? This palette leans more towards the blues and purples, so if you're not into thos shades, this one isn't for you. Let's take a detailed look at the different eyeshadows.

Revolt is a bright, metallic silver containing micro glitter, making it a bit more prone to fallout like most of UD's glitter-heavy shades. Gonzo is a teal leaning blue that looks mostly matte, but contains the smallest amount of silvery shimmer (hardly perceptible when applied). Slowburn is an orange leaning red, and similar to Gonzo it looks mostly matte but contains a bit of shimmer. Savage is perfectly matte and a hyper bright, hot pink. Fringe is a frosted, metallic teal shade. All of these are gorgeously pigmented and pack quite a punch. Since Savage is completely matte, it is a bit harder to apply than the shimmery shades, but only slightly so: patting motions rather than swiping motions allow you to build up the colour fully.

Chaos is a bright, medium cobalt blue with a slight shimmer, but it's also mostly matte. Jilted is a duochrome: a plummy pink with a blue shift, so pretty! Urban is a darker purple with a frosted finish. Freak is described as a bright green with a gold shift: it's the kind of muted pistachio green colour that is like a bright pastel, one of my fav shades because of that gold shimmer. And finally, there's thrash: a bright, popping lime green/yellow, also a matte with some fine shimmer in there. Again, all of these are just stunningly bright and pigmented!

My sister created two looks using the Electric palette. I love seeing her makeup because her eyeshape is different from mine (more of a "flat" canvas where my eye is more deep-set, creating more shadows and curves), which allows for very different eyeshadow application techniques.

The first look reminds me of a tropical fish, so pretty with a cool ombre effect!

(ugh, look at that amazing rosy complexion, so jeally)

Here, Naomi is wearing Thrash on the inner eyecorner, blended into Freak from center lid outward, and Fringe is used in the outer corner of the eye and on the lower lashline. The look was finished with a thin line of liquid eyeliner, which always looks really pretty with bright makeup looks: makes the colours pop even more!

Her second look is even more punchy and pairs really well with her hazel eyes!

Here, she's wearing Savage on the inner eye corner, Slowburn center lid, and Jilted in the outer eye corner. On the lower lashline, she's wearing the Essence Crystal Eyeliner in Rosy Rush.

To paraphrase my sister, she's super happy with her Electric palette. All the colours are top notch quality, and not only do they pair beautifully with each other, they're also a really cool complement to other palettes she has that contain more neutral shades. Let's just say: if you love experimenting with makeup, a UNIVERSE of pretty looks opens up for you if you have a UD Naked palette and the Electric palette. If you're into colour, the Electric palette is a must have.
